Fortine

Once a station on the Great Northern Railroad Line, Fortine was named in honor of an early settler to the area.

Northwest Montana's Kootenai National Forest is home to the Ten Lake Scenic Area. The area has around 90 miles of off-the-beaten-path trails—perfect for hiking, backpacking and riding—in its rugged terrain. Hardcore fishermen and backpackers have been known to hike to the forest's hidden high mountain lakes.
