Bald Eagle

With a white head and tail and a dark brown body and wings, the bald eagle is unmistakable. Ranging in length from 27 – 37 inches with a wingspan of 5.5 – 8 feet, the bald eagle is second in size of American birds of prey

Living in Montana year-round, bald eagles regularly inhabit wetlands, open water areas, major water bodies and spring spawning streams, with nesting site selection dependent upon local food availability. Bald eagles primarily feed on fish, with a secondary diet of waterfowl.
