Noted for its dense silvery grayish-brown fur, the Canadian lynx is a medium-sized cat with long legs and a short, compact body. Making their home largely in the western half of Montana, Canadian lynx are non-migratory.
Canadian lynx typically make their homes in subalpine forests that generally receive moderately deep snowfall. A solitary and secretive animal, they are usually active at night and take care to avoid large openings. The lynx usually feeds on snowshoe hare, as well as rodents and birds. They will occasionally kill larger animals like deer.
