Western Montana is home to some of the finest musicians you could ever hope to meet, so it should probably come as no surprise that this corner of Montana also hosts some of the coolest music festivals found west of the Continental Divide. Their inspiration? It could be the rugged Rocky Mountains, sparking night stars or the incredible beauty found around every bend. Whatever it is, we dig it and hope you will too.
Glacier Country is home to a variety of events, ranging from small-town festivals to art strolls and farmers markets, as well as some events that have established themselves as “must-sees” in Western Montana. Held in Missoula, this festival takes place every three years and brings choirs from around the world to the Garden City. Since its inception, the festival has attracted more than 5,000 singers from 40 countries to the heart of Montana, connecting diverse cultural backgrounds and traditions.

Drawing its inspiration from the Northern Rocky Mountains (an area referred to as the Crown of the Continent region), the workshop and festival brings guitar greats to Flathead Lake Lodge. This week-long event includes workshops, lessons and nightly concerts in the heart of Glacier Country.

Located in the appropriately named community of Paradise the Montana Baroque Music Festival presents three concerts, with performances from world-renowned musicians.

Missoula’s signature event, River City Roots is a two-day festival that features a juried art show, family activities, a four-mile walk/run and a free all-day music stage, featuring local artists and headline performers. A street festival at its best, River City Roots was founded in 2005 and is most appropriately described as a “celebration of all things Missoula.”

Montana’s only week-long classical music event, Festival Amadeus brings world-class musicians to the mountain community of Whitefish. The festival features seven evening concerts, including an “open-air” performance in Depot Park and an evening with the artists.
